Friday, December 31, 2004My Year in Review 2004Hello everyone and welcome to the last day of 2004 and for most of you this means a time to reflect on the year's doings and laugh , cry or whatever it is you do . I am here to help you guys remember the year's high's and low's so without further babbling ..here we go ... 2004 was a very good one for The Daily Column in general . We more thjan doubled our membership from last year . The forums are better than ever , We got into our 1st Internet Battle with another website and held our own being it was our first one . We lost Peter somewhere along the way but I hope he makes his return in 2005 because I know I speak for all of you when I say we miss him and his great columns . We had a couple new additions from Sirchief, Mr Crabapplemcnasty and a couple others . I had a subtraction in my car because I totaled it and broke my wife's leg in a horrible accident where the airbags saved us . We attempted to have 2 separate gatherings and both were scraped so we need to get that done in 2005 ...but all in all it was a good year in DC land. Now let's move on to people we lost in 2004 ... Mary Ellis Bunim 1/20/04 - Creator of the Real World sensation and pioneer of reality TV Captain Kangaroo 1/23/04 - The Captain & Mr Green Jeans made us laugh from 1955 to 1985 on CBS. J J Jackson 3 /17/ 04 - One of the 1st MTV VJ's . Pat Tillman 4 / 22/ 04 - NFL star gave up millions to fight for our country only to be killed by friendly fire ..what a shame. Live Strong Bracelets - these frigin things were the hottest things around this year . You know when the arab marts make them up they are something special. UGG Boots - I think they are ugly but they were all the nrave this year The Kaballah String - This was another thing that was way out of control with Madonna, Britney , and Paris ( who had no idea why she was wearing it when asked) all sported them in 2004. Von Dutch hats - If I see one more Von Dutch hat at the bar I am going to kill someone ...these things were everywhere ...Thanks Aston !@ Poncho's - Ponchos made a huge comeback in 2004 and I hope they make a quick exot too . The Sox finally beat the Yankees and went on to win a World Series , now many of you can die in peace. Remember exit 26 on I91 on 3/25/04 when a crappy Toyota Corolla cut off a tanker carrying fuel and made the truck tip and it melted the highway On April 5th the Uconn men defeated Georgia Tech to win the National Championship in basketball , The next night the women beat Tennesse to take the womens crown .It's the 1st time the same school has taken both in the same year . Ahh Govenor Rowland getting caught in lie after lie . And everythng else .. 4 storms in 6 weeks . Hurricane Charley hit Fla aug 13th , followed by Frnaces Sept 5th, Ivan Sept 16th and Jeanne Sept 26th . How bout some good and bad music of 2004 .. I personally think that Jet - Get Born is the best disc of 2004 hands down but that's just me .there are a couple of other really good onnes .. Kanye West - The College Dropout disc is great . The appeal is universal , the lyrics are cleverand relatable. Green Day - American Idiot is a disc everyone should own because Green Day has really outdone themselves with us U2 - How to dismantle a bomb should be the disc of the year. Now some of the bad ... Eminem - "Just lose it" back to the studio with the garbage fest of a song. Ashlee Simpson - Pieces of me , I think Im going to be sick ..... HoobaStank - The Reason . What happened to this band , granted they have the worst band name ever ,that used to rock! Avril Lavigne - My happy Ending .. I'll give her a happy ending all right , or she will give me one , either way ? Bowling for Soup - 1985 ....Cute for cute's sake is always painful especially when it's a bunch of Generation Y dummy's rehearsing stuff theyve seen on VH1 . Motley Crue - If I die tommorw ....Didnt your careers already die ? Ok enough of that .... We lost Friends , Sex in the City , Frasier and worst of all My Big Fat Obnoxious husband..damn you networks. We gained IKEA and morons slept out to get into this furniture stores..Furniture stores people ! Dave Chappelle blew up in 2004 , the is the man !
