The State of the Daily Column

It was nice to get away for a week while my computer shit the bed and reflect on the past few months here at the TDC and I have come to a conclusion on a couple things here at the Daily Column and am going to make changes starting today .

First off I think the columns are starting to get a little stale , I mean people like reading all the different links and such but I think the same thing everyday is just boring and I have come to the conclusion that I think at least my columns need to be a little more personal and less general . It seems that I get the most response ,good or bad ,when the column is a rant or a commentary on certain issues I am talking about . I dont think I am going to be adding tons of links anymore since there really is only so many you guys even click on in a day and Im going to start adding links that relate to that day's column rather than just random links . I think this will keep more people's interest rather than just checking in from time to time . Im still going to have some fun stuff for you guys to click on but it will be toned down a bit to leave the focus on the day's article .

As for the forums problems , I have contacted PhPbb and they issued me this response . All you computer savvy people might want to put this into laimens terms for me so I can try to fix the problem because it looks like chinese to me

I will get into the whole computer thing tommorow and why it broke , or at least what the guy has told me ...It's not a pretty site .

Now I have a Want and Need list I would like to happen over the next few weeks to a month but I cant do it alone .

Want List :

1. I want to have the forum problem fixed but I might need someone to help me with this .

2. I want to change the site's look but I dont have the access since our crash a while back and I need peter to restore my access so I can get started on it . I have so many great ideas for a fresh , new DC but without peter's help it isnt going to happen . Peter if you are reading this please call me or email me so we can get together and iron this baby out !

3. I want more participation in the forums . I think they are going great but it's usually the same 20 or so people commenting on every subject with an occasional newbie popping his head in and then get scared away by our resident ballbreakers .

4. I want to start advertising more but peter is also a big part of making that happen for me . I need access and all of you who have contacted me in the last week or so trying to get advertising inquiries are going to have to sit tight for a while longer till I can get this figured out.

5. I want to start networking with other sites and getting our name out there for more exposure which I am currently looking into .

6. I want more columnnists so I can occasionaly pop in a guest column whenever I need it or whenever yo need to get something off your chest . This site is for all of you also , Im just the hub to make it all happen for you ....use it .

Need List :

1. I need to start moderating the forums a little better . I have pretty much been letting the inmates run the asylum and I think I need to take a more proactive part in making them a more user friendly place for everyone to enjoy . It's not going to change much , just a few minor tweaks will do wonders .

Thanks for letting me vent and explain what I am trying to do to make your work days go by a little easier . I love doing this site everyday and really think it could be something so much more special with a little cooperation for everyone .
